If you know me well, you know I’m a Wisconsin girl, and so proud of it. I love everything about my home state. The small town feel and the incredibly sweet people. The farms and the clean smelling air. The way the landscapes refresh my soul and put my mind at ease. There truly is no place like home.
I married a city boy, and we live in Illinois now. While I wouldn’t trade our life for anything, my heart often longs for that country life I love. Luckily, I am blessed to have lots of family in Wisconsin. One of which being my mom and her husband Jim. He is a farmer and together they own over 150 acres of gorgeous land. When we get to visit, I am so refreshed. It’s like my anxiety melts away and I can truly relax. And my children have so much fun adventuring the rolling hills, the rows of corn, and the old barns. They get tractor rides from papa, swim time and kayaking in a beautiful spring fed lake, and they get to help with chores. We love our time at the farm.
Being out here just feels right. There’s such a sense of freedom out in the country. From growing your own food, to raising your own eggs and meat. You can tool around on four wheelers, horses and kayaks. Go fishing, camping or practice shooting. There’s so much to do and so much to explore. I love going home and just breathing in everything that is, Wisconsin.
